Hydrostatic Testing

Mandatory Safety Checks

Hydrostatic Testing of Fire Extinguishers

Hydrostatic testing (Hydrotest) is a critical safety test required to ensure that the cylinder of your fire extinguisher can still safely hold the pressure of the extinguishing agent. At AureX, we perform comprehensive hydrotesting services compliant with BIS standards to guarantee that your equipment does not have leaks or structural flaws.

Extinguisher cylinders undergo severe stress over time due to pressure, environmental conditions, and potential impacts. Our advanced testing facility ensures zero compromise on safety by subjecting cylinders to required test pressures safely, verifying their integrity and structural soundness.

When is it Required?

  • Dry Chemical Powder (DCP): Every 5 years.
  • Foam extinguishers: Every 3 years.
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) extinguishers: Every 5 years.
  • Clean Agent extinguishers: Every 5 years.
  • If the cylinder shows signs of deep corrosion, dents, or damage.
  • When exposed to excessive heat or fire.

The Testing Procedure

  • Internal and external visual inspection for defects.
  • Emptying and removal of valves and components.
  • Filling the cylinder with water to required test capacity.
  • Applying specified hydrostatic pressure (e.g., 35 kg/cm2) in a secure chamber.
  • Checking for pressure drops, leaks, or deformation.
  • Drying, reassembling, refilling, and stamping test date.
