CO2 Fire Suppression & Flooding Systems

CO2 Suppression Configurations

Carbon Dioxide is a highly efficient smothering agent. Aurex offers three primary designs according to the hazard scope:

1. Indirect High Pressure (IHP) System: Uses the polymer detection tube strictly to sense fires and activate the indirect valve. Rupturing of the tube drops internal pressure, which diverts high-flow CO2 out of the cylinder into separate piping network to discharge through nozzles.
2. Direct High Pressure (DHP) System: The polymer detection tube acts as both the sensor and discharge channel. In a fire, it bursts at the hottest point (88°C) and sprays the CO2 agent directly through the burst point.
3. Total Flooding Gas System: Designed for larger volumes. Connected through manifolds, electronic master valves, and slave pressure valves, discharging CO2 into a room/enclosure via a centralized control solenoid system.

Key System Features

Extremely rapid knockdown - suppresses fires within seconds
Intrinsically safe automatic detection requiring no external electric power (DHP/IHP)
No false alarms or discharges - activates only on direct heat impingement at 88°C
Equipped with electronic monitoring scales (load cells) to track gas weight dynamically
Flexible manifold setups to protect large hazards with centralized banks
Leaves zero chemical residue, meaning zero cleaning post-discharge

Safety Warning

[!IMPORTANT]
Carbon Dioxide displaces oxygen to suppress fires and can cause immediate asphyxiation. It should only be installed in unoccupied machinery areas, locked rooms, or closed switchgear cabinets. For open areas where humans might be present, systems must include warning alarms and mechanical pre-discharge delays.

Typical Applications

CO2 Fire suppression systems are particularly effective on high voltage equipment and heavy machinery where fast-acting, non-conductive gas is required to suppress intense thermal loads.
